An Oil Spill-Free Niger Delta
We envision a world where the oil spilled environment in the Niger Delta region is restored and the youths equipped with skills to speak up and become environmental advocate.

To equip young people from Niger Delta with technological skills to enable them have the tools to speak up against the environmental pollution caused by oil exploration.

We believe that when the youths come together ethically and stand for a cause, only then can real change begin.

The Effect of Oil Spillage
In Rivers state, for example, certain lands, like the entire Ogoniland which includes over 261 communities spread over nearly 1,000sq km (385sq miles)in Rivers State have been abandoned entirely for agriculture due to the effects of oil exploration over time.
The effect of the oil industry on people’s health in the Niger Delta is still emerging. but Life expectancy is cut short – as low as 41, which is 10 years lesser than the rest of Nigeria. And we have began to see increase in illnesses like asthma and other respiratory diseases.
The Story of Millions of Niger Deltan Youths
Gift, a 25 years old local from Bayelsa forfeited her dreams of tertiary education and picked up the responsibility of fending for her family with a $9.7/month salary after they lost their primary source of livelihood; agriculture. Her story adequately represents that of millions of youths in the Niger Delta.

What is happening in the Niger Delta Region since 1958 is a perfect example of the consequences of allowing companies to do whatever they want in a specific area. For instance, Shell has had over 1,000 oil spills since 2011, an average of 76 per year. Most of these spills go into the farmlands and rivers, which the majority of the citizens in the state rely on for survival.

We organizae the Skills to Empowerment Program (STEP) aims to equip youths aged between 20-30 from villages in the Niger Delta with digital skills to enable them to earn a source of livelihood and also have the tools they need to speak up against the environmental pollution caused by oil spillages.
