We Provide Digital Skills To
Youths In The Niger Delta
Every year, we organize the Skills to Empowerment Program (STEP). We aim to equip youths aged between 20-30 from villages in the Niger Delta of Nigeria with digital skills to enable the earn a source of livelihood and also have the tools they need to speak up against the environmental pollution caused by oil spillages.
Web Design
Beneficiaries learn how to create websites and landing pages on platforms like WordPress and Shopify
UI/UX Design
Beneficiaries will learn from wireframing to mastering various design platforms like Adobe XD and Figma to design webpages
Graphics Design
In addition to their UI/UX skills, they will also be taught how to create designs using softwares like Photoshop and Corel
Digital Marketing
With digital marketing now essential in the tech world, they will master skills like SEO, Social Media, Media Buying etc
THE STEPS
How We Do It
Phase 1: My Niger Delta, My Pride
In the first phase after onboarding, we will take our beneficiaries on a basic computer literacy course. Also, through sessions on environmental awareness and their newly developed computer literacy skills, they will now research more and realize the larger issue of oil spills and about companies whitewashing them with peanuts. This should build a healthy anger within. After this phase, they will be fired up to make actual change in Phase 2.
Phase 2: The Tech Community
During this phase, from day 1, participants will be assigned to local NGOs and businesses for who they will implement what they learn during the 5-month training in Digital Marketing, Website Development, Graphics and UI/UX Design.
Also, in this phase, some of the participants for the first time in their lives will travel to a different state through the monthly exposure trip to different oil-spilled environments across the Niger Delta.
Phase 3: Crawling, Standing, Running
During this phase, from day 1, participants will be assigned to local NGOs and businesses for who they will implement what they learn during the 5-month training in Digital Marketing, Website Development, Graphics and UI/UX Design.
Also, in this phase, some of the participants for the first time in their lives will travel to a different state through the monthly exposure trip to different oil-spilled environments across the Niger Delta.
